RF lifting gel is the contact medium between the handpiece and the skin. It provides even current conduction, lets the handpiece glide without friction and prevents the tissue from overheating at isolated points. Without gel an RF treatment is not merely less effective — it is unsafe, because uneven contact can cause burns. The glycerine base also holds moisture, so the skin is not left dehydrated afterwards.

The gel must be conductive and water-based — rich creams and oils are unsuitable for RF because they insulate the electrode. For facial work choose thicker gels: they stay in place longer and do not run. For body work large 1000–5000 ml bottles with a pump are more practical: an abdomen or thigh session uses 30–80 ml.
